There aren’t many things better than getting a good night’s sleep. It feels great to wake up feeling refreshed and ready for anything the day will bring. If you want to feel this way, you need to sleep well every night. Begin by studying the tips in this article.

When you’re not able to sleep when you’re going to bed, fennel or chamomile tea can help. The soothing warmth is enough by itself to help you relax. Decaffeinated herbal teas contain all kinds of delicious, natural ingredients that promote sleep.

Sleep enough to make sure you feel rested. You can’t “catch up” on sleep. As long as you make a habit of sleeping enough hours every single night, you’ll be able to build a regular sleep schedule. You should not bank hours or try withdrawing from the next day.

Don’t drink too much within three hours of bedtime. If your bladder is full, you will have to get up and out of bed to use the restroom. Waking up each hour to urinate can impair your sleeping. Consume any needed fluids early in the day so that you can stay away from them at bedtime.

TIP! It’s harder to sleep when you aren’t sleepy! If your job keeps you in one place for long periods of time, do what you can to break frequently and move around during the day. Extra physical activity like exercise can help boost your sleepiness near bedtime, as well.

Sleeping can be triggered with a light snack. A bit of toast topped with honey can calm and satisfy you. If you add a glass of warm milk to the menu, you are sure to start feeling sleepy within 30 minutes of finishing.

Don’t exercise before bedtime if you’re suffering from insomnia. Exercise stimulates your metabolism, so if you don’t already sleep soundly, then exercising the last few hours of the day is a bad idea. Being calm before bedtime can better help you have a good night’s sleep and fight the insomnia.

Do you remember bedtime stories as a kid? Adults can use this technique, too. If you are looking for something relaxing to help you drift off, try getting an audiobook to listen to that will help you wind down as you lay in bed. Music may also help.

Before you go to bed, set your alarm for a reasonable hour. If you actually get more sleep than you should, this is going to mess with your sleep pattern and can cause insomnia on the nights to follow. Don’t sleep more than eight hours.

Replace some of the carbs in your diet with protein. Carbs can make you tired during the day and then energize you at night, which you don’t want.

What’s your magnesium like? If you know that your diet is lacking in magnesium, a supplement will be beneficial to you. Consider taking a combination calcium/magnesium pill each day and monitor whether this perks you up. The supplement is inexpensive and can be found at most drug stores.

Now, you should know how to better your sleep. So, do it! Take each one and bring change to your life, one bit at a time. The more effort you put into it, the better your chances will be of waking up well rested.
